  • Our approach

My Vibe Psychology uses gentle, child-centered, and strengths-based approaches grounded in neuro-affirming practice and evidence-based methods. Sessions celebrate each child's unique strengths and individual 'vibe' while helping them develop meaningful goals and be their best selves. The practice offers a range of developmentally appropriate interventions, including child-centered play therapy and support from Archie, a certified therapy dog. The philosophy follows Ross Greene's principle that "children do well if they can," applied equally to children, young people, parents and families. As a boutique practice, this enables individualized, tailored service focused on each client's specific needs.

  • Working with families

Parents are central to the therapeutic process at My Vibe Psychology. Initial appointments for younger children include dedicated parent time, and the final appointment each term is typically parent-only to discuss goals, strategies and review progress. With parent written permission, one additional non-client facing session per term is recommended for case review, treatment planning and consultation with the child's other providers. The practice also offers case management consultation to help parents navigate, review and coordinate their child's multiple support services, with one session per term recommended to determine what to prioritize and action next. Parenting support sessions are available via telehealth where parents can access guidance and strategies.

For adolescents, the initial appointment is 75 minutes as a joint session with both the young person and parent/s (65 minutes of direct client time). Following the initial appointment, regular sessions are 60 minutes (50 minutes client facing) and are scheduled weekly or fortnightly during school term. The final appointment of each school term is typically offered as a parent-only session to discuss goals, strategies and review progress.
