  • Our approach

Sessions at My ADHD Australia take a collaborative and personalised approach to diagnosis and treatment. During consultations, the clinicians work to develop a thorough understanding of what is troubling you, how difficulties have occurred, and what you want to gain from seeking care. The team asks about current symptoms, life history, and prior treatment, then clarifies your diagnosis so you can better understand why you feel the way you do and how to manage things more effectively. This evidence-based care honours each individual's story and context, blending medical expertise with compassionate support to create tailored treatment plans.

  • Meet the team

The team includes Dr. Dorgival Caetano, Medical Director and Senior Psychiatrist with a PhD from Cambridge University and extensive expertise in ADHD treatment in adults, along with Dr. Lara Howard, a psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience specialising in child and adolescent mental health, ADHD, autism, and developmental trauma. The clinic also employs Dr. Phillip O'Rourke, Dr. Sreekutty K Sivan, and Dr. Stephen Hook as consultant psychiatrists; Dr. Shahzad Sarwar and Dr. Yasoja Chamilka Jayasinghe as consultant paediatricians; Dr. Humaira Hamimi as a registered psychologist; and Dr. Bruna Krimberg von Muhlen as a clinical psychologist with training in systemic family therapy and trauma-informed care. The team offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, psychopharmacological reviews, and evidence-based psychological interventions.

  • Your first visit

Your first appointment involves developing an understanding of what is troubling you, how these difficulties have occurred, and what you want to gain from seeking care. You will be asked about your current symptoms and experiences, life history, and prior treatment, with the clinician working to clarify your current diagnosis so you can better understand your condition and how to manage it more effectively. Sometimes the initial assessment may take more than one session, as it is a collaborative process to determine what treatment will work best for you. Please bring any previous medical reports or letters that might be useful, and if claiming a Medicare rebate, submit your referral before your appointment along with your Medicare details.
