Our approach
Change for Youth Foundation uses a trauma-informed approach to learning and wellbeing support, recognizing that children in out-of-home care often carry invisible wounds from abuse, neglect, and disrupted schooling. Sessions focus on safe, relationship-based learning that happens sometimes away from the classroom, helping young people rebuild confidence and discover that learning can be enjoyable. The foundation provides individualized wellbeing care that supports emotional regulation and healing for children with complex trauma histories, alongside family and carer collaboration to build stable environments. Culturally responsive care ensures First Nations children remain connected to their culture, country, and identity. The work is tailored to suit each individual child, unlike classroom learning where everyone must learn in the same way at the same time.
