Our approach
Our therapeutic approach aims to develop an understanding and supportive environment where neurodivergent children, teenagers and adults can develop important skills in advocacy, emotional regulation and communication. We offer individual therapy and parent training/support sessions focusing on supporting everyone involved. Our assessment process includes a 1-hour intake appointment to discuss background and what assessments will be completed, followed by 1-hour assessment sessions (1 session for ADHD, 2 for Autism), and concludes with a 1-hour feedback session 4-6 weeks later to discuss findings and recommendations. Throughout, we aim to provide a neutral, supportive ground where all clients and families feel valued by our staff.
Working with families
Family involvement is central to the clinic's approach, with parent training and support sessions offered alongside individual therapy. Parents are invited to the 1-hour feedback session 4-6 weeks after assessments, where findings and recommendations are discussed directly with families. The clinic emphasises providing a supportive environment for the whole family and aims to ensure all clients and their families feel supported by staff.
Meet the team
The team consists of three General Psychologists: Caitlin Riddell (Director), Chris Murphy and Pat Matillano. All are qualified to conduct assessments and provide therapy for autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities and other neurodiversities in children, teenagers and adults. The clinic is directed by Caitlin Riddell, with each team member providing supportive, client-centred care in a welcoming environment that respects all individuals.
Your first visit
The first appointment is a 1-hour intake session where the psychologist gathers background information about your child and discusses which assessments and questionnaires will be needed in subsequent appointments. This allows the team to understand your child's strengths, challenges and circumstances before moving to the formal assessment sessions. The intake meeting helps set the direction for the assessment process and ensures everyone is clear about what to expect next.
