  • Our approach

At Leap Forward Therapy Services, the approach is centred on partnership with families to encourage active and meaningful participation in everyday routines. Therapy is flexible, well-planned and personalised, responding to each family's specific needs. Sessions incorporate evidence-based assessment and treatment methods across a range of speech pathology and keyworker services. The provider works to increase self-esteem and confidence while supporting clients towards their goals, with particular attention to making therapy enjoyable for both children and their families. Sessions may be delivered at the clinic, at school, child care or via telehealth, depending on what works best for your family.

  • Working with families

Families are central to the therapy approach at Leap Forward Therapy Services, with keyworker arrangements designed to reduce the stress of managing multiple appointments by providing one dedicated therapist as your main point of contact. The director understands family needs deeply as a parent herself and is committed to providing family-centred therapy. Your keyworker supports coordination of not just therapy but also other external supports and community access, helping you navigate the complex funding systems to identify appropriate avenues for support. Social skills groups and school readiness programs include activities for further practice at home, extending learning beyond sessions.

  • Meet the team

The team is led by Mildred Tan, Director and Speech Pathologist, who holds a Masters in Speech Pathology and extensive additional qualifications including credentials in Auditory-Verbal Practice, dyslexia and literacy teaching, alternative and augmentative communication, and food technology. Mildred brings 21 years of experience working in paediatric and adult speech pathology across diverse settings including early intervention, schools, hospitals and private practice. The service also employs other speech pathologists and trained keyworkers who work collaboratively, with coordination of additional specialist therapists as needed for each child. When a keyworker is assigned to your family, they become your main point of contact and can arrange support from other therapists on the team when required.
