About Word Haven Speech Pathology

Word Haven Speech Pathology is a paediatric speech pathology practice run by Chloe Teoh, a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist. Sessions run at the Glen Waverley clinic inside Glenmount Medical Clinic, at school or in the community, and by telehealth.

Chloe works with preschool and school-aged children, providing assessment and therapy for speech sounds and articulation, early language, school-aged language, literacy, stuttering, gestalt language processing and childhood apraxia of speech. The approach is neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based, built with families, educators and other professionals so that strategies carry into everyday settings.

Word Haven also runs kinder screenings: brief onsite speech and language screenings at kindergarten and childcare centres. Clients who are self-managed or plan-managed under the NDIS are welcome, and Medicare and private health rebates may apply.

  • Our approach

Chloe's approach is neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based, tailored to each child's individual communication style, interests and needs. Therapy supports speech, language and literacy through meaningful, everyday experiences rather than drills alone. She works closely with families, educators and other professionals, providing practical strategies that can be used across everyday environments. Session notes are provided to families and, with consent, can be shared with the child's educators.

  • Working with families

Families are treated as partners. Chloe works closely with families, educators and other professionals to provide practical strategies that can be used at home, at kinder or at school, so progress carries beyond the session. Session notes are provided to families and, with consent, can also be shared with the child's educators. Telehealth sessions are used for parent coaching and home practice where that suits a family better.

  • Meet the team

Word Haven Speech Pathology is run by Chloe Teoh, a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with experience across private practice, kindergartens and schools. Her training includes Colourful Semantics, Sounds Write, READ-3, Cued Articulation, Gestalt Language Processing through Meaningful Speech, Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) for childhood apraxia of speech, Neurodiversity Affirming Practice through Play.Learn.Chat, and Liberator AAC device trial training.

  • Your first visit

The initial consultation generally includes developmental screening, clinical observation and a discussion about your child's communication. If further assessment is recommended, a standardised assessment such as the CELF-5 may be suggested to explore your child's communication strengths and the areas where they may benefit from support. No referral is needed to book: families can self-refer and book directly. A GP referral is only required if you plan to access Medicare rebates.
