  • Our approach

Kids Compass offers child-centered occupational therapy, play therapy, and animal-assisted therapy designed to help children embrace their unique qualities. In occupational therapy, children develop functional skills for everyday activities like playing, dressing, and participating at school. Play therapy uses games and toys to help children safely express and work through their experiences, with a specialized AutPlay option for children with autism and neurodevelopmental differences. Animal-assisted therapy incorporates therapeutic animals to help children exercise relational skills and develop empathy. All services are grounded in an inclusive philosophy that works in partnership with families and supportive networks throughout the therapeutic journey.

  • Working with families

The provider emphasizes an inclusive approach that encompasses not only the child but their family and supportive networks. After initial assessments, the team offers recommendations to guide parents on the best way forward. The therapeutic journey involves working in partnership with families every step of the way, with communication and collaboration forming a core part of the service model.

  • Meet the team

The team is led by Krystal Morier, Director and Paediatric Occupational Therapist with qualifications including a BSc(Hons), Master of Occupational Therapy (Practice), Post Graduate Certificate in Child-Centered Play Therapy, Diploma of Dance, and Post Graduate Training in Animal Assisted Play Therapy. She brings creative expertise in dance, art, music, and drama to her work. The team also includes Magick, a certified Therapy Dog and Chocolate Labrador trained to Level 2 in Animal Assisted Play Therapy, and Spirit, a therapy dog in training. This human-canine team was the first certified Animal Assisted Play Therapy team in Australia and won the 2024 prestigious Kirrie Award from the International Institute of Animal Assisted Play Therapy.

  • Your first visit

Your first visit begins with a gentle conversation where you can share your concerns and book a meeting with the team. At the initial assessment session, the therapist will get to know your child through fun and engaging games and activities, observing how they play rather than conducting a formal test-like assessment. After this session, the team will offer personalized recommendations to guide your family on the best way forward. Throughout this process, you'll be working in partnership with the therapists every step of the way.
