• Our approach

  Kerry's approach is collaborative and carefully tailored to each child's unique needs and interests. Sessions are crafted to create a 'just right' environment that challenges and builds skills through play, participation and relationship-based activities. Work typically focuses on everyday skills such as self-care, coordination, social interaction, play and leisure, attending school, and managing sensory or attentional challenges. Kerry draws on specialist training in areas including sensory processing, motor skills, and autism, and uses evidence-based programs such as the CO-OP approach and Wilbarger Protocol. To achieve the best results, home practice with parents is encouraged, and visits to school or home can be arranged to support skill transfer and sharing of ideas.

• Working with families

  Kerry emphasises that parents know their child better than anyone else and places families at the centre of therapy. Parents support their child during sessions in the clinic environment, and home practice is encouraged as the best way for children to gain lasting results. Kerry can visit your home or school to share ideas and suggestions and ensure skills carryover into real-life settings. Communication about your child's needs and concerns happens from the initial contact, with Kerry's practice manager available to discuss your questions and goals.

• Meet the team

  Kerry Gibbett is a sole practitioner – an Occupational Therapist with over four decades of experience working with children. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Sydney University and is registered with AHPRA. She is a member of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists, a registered Medicare provider, and maintains current knowledge through ongoing professional learning and courses.

• Your first visit

  The first appointment begins with getting to know your child in a fun, comfortable and safe environment with your support. Prior to the visit, you may be asked to complete assessments to give a broad picture of areas of challenge, though sometimes specific evaluations are completed and sometimes none are needed. Kerry takes time to understand each child's unique needs and goals before carefully crafting sessions. The session environment is designed to be welcoming and engaging, allowing your child to feel secure as the foundation for learning and skill-building.
