  • Our approach

At Jamieson Psychology, sessions are grounded in evidence-based assessments and treatments delivered with warmth, compassion and understanding. Fiona works within the context of developmental periods, social, emotional and cognitive needs, and school and family influences to understand each young person's issues and draw out their strengths. The approach aims to empower young people and families to develop a skill set that provides knowledge and confidence to manage difficulties both now and in the future. This is particularly important when working with LGBTQI+ young people, where understanding the psychological impact of gender diversity and how to navigate social and emotional challenges helps young people adjust well.

  • Working with families

Supporting parents and caregivers is central to the practice. Fiona works with families to help build stronger relationships between parents and children through improving communication, understanding how to draw out positive behaviours and set appropriate boundaries, and repairing trust when needed. She also helps families manage the online world and develop strategies to best support their child through difficult times, particularly relevant when a young person is navigating gender diversity.
