Our approach
Inner Eastern Psychology offers evidence-based, person-centred therapy delivered through structured sessions by experienced psychologists and clinical psychologists. The practice employs a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), EMDR, and Emotion Focused Therapy, among others. Sessions often include tasks outside the therapy room, and the therapist works collaboratively with you to identify your needs and goals within the context of your life and circumstances. The team values openness, curiosity, and a non-judgmental approach to support emotional wellbeing.
Meet the team
The team at Inner Eastern Psychology comprises experienced Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, and Accredited Mental Health Social Workers, many holding supervisory roles. The clinicians are trained independent mental health practitioners skilled in a variety of therapy frameworks and experienced with diverse mental health needs. The team comes from a range of cultural and life experience backgrounds, bringing diversity and inclusivity to their practice. Individual psychologists have specialist experience in areas including trauma, complex trauma, neurodivergence, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, and many other presentations. Several team members have advanced training and certifications in specific modalities such as EMDR, Schema Therapy, and DBT.
Your first visit
At your first appointment, your psychologist will conduct an assessment to understand you as a person, your current struggles, goals, and what you are dealing with. This collaborative process involves discussing your current situation as well as your background, including childhood, relationships with caregivers, how you developed emotional management skills, and your sense of self. The assessment aims to create a formulation—an understanding of how and why certain struggles exist and what perpetuates them. This foundation helps your psychologist identify evidence-based approaches that may be most suitable for your individual needs and circumstances.
