  • Our approach

Soft tissue occupational therapy focuses on diagnosing, treating and preventing musculoskeletal disorders using neuromuscular and soft tissue techniques combined with guidance on lifestyle, work and exercise. Sessions involve detailed case history and examination, with treatment tailored to restore optimal body functioning and support the body's natural healing ability. Practitioners implement myofascial therapy techniques to improve circulation, remove scar tissue and enhance neuro-muscular function, which reduces pain and improves strength and mobility. A holistic approach is taken to understand what causes pain and how therapy fits into your lifestyle. The clinic uses both standardised and non-standardised orthopaedic assessments to accurately diagnose a range of injuries and conditions.

  • Meet the team

The clinic was developed by pioneering Occupational Therapist Lawrence Farrow, who started the practice in Mount Hawthorn in 2003 and has run post graduate courses in functional soft tissue medicine for over 30 years, now speaking at conferences worldwide. The team comprises experienced and fully trained occupational therapists who share in the pioneering approach of the practice, with over 60 years of combined experience across the team. Innovation, excellence and ongoing professional education are the standards at Health Central, with all occupational therapists held in high regard within the industry for their expertise in soft tissue treatment. The clinic maintains a friendly, professional and approachable staff focused on providing exceptional quality care.

  • Your first visit

At your first appointment, arrive 15 minutes early to complete new patient paperwork so the team can get to know you better. Your practitioner will conduct a detailed case history and examination to accurately diagnose your condition using both standardised and non-standardised orthopaedic assessments. Following this assessment, your treatment plan will be individually tailored to your specific health needs. You may experience some tiredness, mild nausea or a headache after treatment as your body eliminates toxins released from soft tissues, which is normal and can be helped by drinking water regularly.
