• Our approach

  Each classroom is led by an appointed classroom teacher supported by several Education Assistants who develop comprehensive knowledge of students and support the generalisation of skills across different contexts. All staff are qualified and trained in Special Educational Needs specific programs such as TEACCH, low technology Assistive and Augmentative Communication (AAC), Team Teach and explicit teaching strategies. The school focuses on developing resilience, achievement and independence in each child through individualised learning pathways. Additional specialist staff deliver specialised subjects including music, dance, gardening, cooking, science and PE, with key learning often extended to families to promote successful home and school practice.

  The school is committed to working together with parents and families to develop resilience, achievement and independence in each child. Specialist learning is often extended to families to promote successful home and school practice. The experienced and welcoming front office staff actively seek communication and feedback with families, and families are involved in consultation processes regarding assessments and support arrangements. Parents can contact the school office, speak directly with their child's teacher, or discuss matters with the Principal to ensure collaborative partnership in their child's learning journey.

• Meet the team

  The school is led by Principal Natasha Naylor, Deputy Principal for Lower Years Candice Burns and Deputy Principal for Upper Years Liz Golightly, supported by Manager of Corporate Services Kath Chamberlain. Each classroom has an appointed classroom teacher and several Education Assistants trained in Special Educational Needs programs. Specialist staff deliver subjects such as music, dance, gardening, cooking, science and PE. A School Psychologist undertakes assessment and reporting, and a Community School Nurse provides On-Entry Assessments and support. Experienced School Officers in the front office contribute to school planning and communication with families, and all staff work collaboratively with external therapists and support providers.
