  • Our approach

The service uses a neuroaffirming, child-centred approach that prioritises personalised care and collaboration with families. Therapy sessions are designed to meet each child's unique needs and goals, often incorporating evidence-based strategies like DIR Floortime® and the CO-OP approach. In Floortime sessions, the therapist follows the child's lead through play, building communication, emotional regulation, and confidence in a natural, relationship-based way. For children suited to CO-OP, the therapist acts as a coach, asking reflective questions to help children discover their own problem-solving strategies rather than providing constant instruction.

  • Working with families

Parents and carers are central to the service's approach. The therapist gathers input from you about your child's history, goals, and daily challenges, and communicates regularly to keep you informed throughout assessment and therapy. You're encouraged to support your child's learning at home using strategies from sessions—such as asking reflective questions and celebrating problem-solving efforts. The service provides guidance in navigating NDIS processes and offers practical support for parenting neurodivergent children alongside therapy for your child.

  • Your first visit

The first appointment begins with an initial discussion to gather background information about your child's history, current supports, and goals. The therapist then completes standardised assessments and clinical observations to identify your child's strengths, differences, and areas where support would help. This information-gathering process sets the foundation for a customised therapy plan tailored to your child and family's specific needs.
