Our approach
At EquipKids, therapy is built on the belief that every child and teen has the potential to thrive when given the right tools, strategies, and relationships. Sessions focus on practical, evidence-based interventions that strengthen skills for learning, independence, and emotional wellbeing, whether delivered in the clinic, at home, in the community, or online. The team works with children from early years through to teens, tailoring support across fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive development, self-care, social skills, and emotional regulation. Therapy is designed to feel meaningful, achievable, and life-changing, with the flexibility to meet families where they are—ensuring sessions fit into real life rather than adding stress.
Working with families
EquipKids places family at the centre of its approach, collaborating with parents and carers from the initial contact through to ongoing therapy planning and scheduling. The team provides access to digital resources created by occupational therapists to help parents support their child's skills at home, offering practical and gentle guidance. Parents are also invited to informative talks, workshops, and presentations on child development and occupational therapy topics. Throughout the journey, the focus is on partnership, with regular communication to ensure therapy supports the whole family and creates meaningful change across home and school settings.
Your first visit
To get started, you can contact EquipKids by phone or through the online booking form, and a team member will provide information about the booking process—no referral is needed. Once the necessary information is collected to onboard your child, the team collaborates with you to schedule a convenient time and location for therapy to begin. You'll then be welcomed and your child will meet their dedicated therapist, who will guide them through personalised sessions tailored to their unique needs. The focus from the start is ensuring your child's growth and development are prioritised as you embark on this journey together.
