  • Our approach

Delhi Road Clinic uses evidence-based therapy approaches tailored to each client's needs. Clinicians draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy, with additional training in mindfulness skills. Sessions involve discussing your concerns and life circumstances to understand your difficulties, with the psychologist providing feedback about your main problem and suggesting therapy approaches that may help. The goal is to identify a set of goals to work towards, with most clients returning for a second appointment where intervention begins and assessment continues.

  • Meet the team

The clinic has two Clinical Psychologists. Dr Linda Nguy is the Director and holds degrees from the University of Sydney (Bachelor of Psychology, Master of Science, and Doctor of Clinical Psychology). She has trained and worked in community health centres, clinics, and both private and public hospitals, specialising in depression and bipolar disorder management and co-founding a bipolar disorder group therapy program. She has been in private practice since 2007. Esther Wong completed her Bachelor of Science (Psychology) at UNSW and Master of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) at University of Wollongong, and has worked in university clinics, community mental health services, hospital specialist clinics and non-government agencies since 2014 at the clinic. Both are experienced in treating adolescents and adults with mental health conditions.

  • Your first visit

Your initial appointment is devoted to talking about your needs and concerns, and discussing you as a person and other things that have been going on in your life. By the end of the consultation, your psychologist will aim to provide feedback about your main problem and suggest therapy approaches which may assist you. The first appointment usually goes for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours and helps identify a set of goals to work towards. You don't need a referral to make an appointment, though getting one from your GP can be helpful—Medicare rebates are only available when you have a mental health care plan from your GP. A second appointment typically follows, at which time intervention and continued assessment may begin.
