Our approach
Creative Therapy Village works with a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming philosophy, believing each family deserves a therapeutic experience as unique as they are. The team uses evidence-based creative therapies including play therapy, art therapy, and art-based counselling, seamlessly integrated with trauma-informed approaches to help children, young people, and adults process experiences and emotions that are difficult to express in words. They take a family systemic approach, recognising that trauma often reverberates across generations and working to heal not just individuals but entire family units. Sessions are designed to meet you where you are, deeply accepting and acknowledging your strengths and struggles while finding creative ways to work through difficulties together. The practice creates a safe, low-demand space with sensory accommodations including dimmable lighting, insulated rooms, blackout blinds, and accessible furniture to ensure all clients can access the services they deserve.
Working with families
Communication with families is built on honesty, truth, and compassion, with the team committed to keeping you informed and involved throughout the therapeutic journey. The practice believes deeply in a family systemic approach, recognising that healing often involves understanding and addressing inter-generational trauma patterns within the family unit. Parent coaching is offered as a dedicated service to support caregivers in navigating their own challenges while supporting their children. The team provides ongoing, confidential support and works with parents and caregivers to help them cope with uncertainty and prioritise their own wellbeing alongside caring for their families. Throughout therapy, you're treated as an active partner in the healing process, with the practice championing a solution-focused mindset that enables families to feel safely guided and held on the path towards more positive and enriched life experiences.
