CoRe Kids Therapy is a Melbourne-based child therapy clinic offering play therapy, child counselling, and family services. They focus on helping children aged 2-12 work through emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties using evidence-based play therapy approaches and parenting support programs.

Our approach
Play is how children learn, develop and understand the world. The therapy rooms are welcoming and calming spaces, larger than standard consulting rooms with significant area devoted to play therapy and a diverse range of toys to help children communicate all their feelings. Therapy creates a safe and nurturing place for children without fear of judgment, punishment or losing control. A range of evidence-based approaches is available, including play therapy (child-centred, Synergetic, Theraplay, Autplay), counselling, EMDR therapy for trauma, and parenting support programs, all tailored to each child's needs.
Working with families
Parents and carers are actively involved in the therapeutic process. Parental coaching and filial therapy programs teach parents play therapy techniques to use at home with their own children. Additional parent-focused services include the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P), Parent Learn to Play, Parent Effectiveness Training, and group programs such as Circle of Security Parenting and Tuning Into Kids. The team emphasises collaboration with families to address difficulties and achieve positive change.

The team includes Donna Lai (Principal Clinician, Play Therapist and Filial Therapist), Dr Aine Foran (Children's Counsellor and Associate Play Therapist), Amy Baillie (Synergetic Play Therapist and Children's Counsellor), Daniela Diaz (Registered Psychologist and Associate Play Therapist), Jovana Nikcevic (Registered Psychologist and Play Therapist), Iris He (Provisional Psychologist and Child and Family Therapist), Kate Hall (Child and Family Therapist and Social Worker), Natalie Ryan (Child and Family Therapist and Social Worker), and Sara McGarvey (Social Worker and Play Therapist). The practice is family-run with a focus on staff welfare and professional development, including monthly external supervision and professional development opportunities.
