About CoastalPlay OT

- Extensive play assessments and intervention to enable children to develop independent and social play skills.
- Emotional Regulation and Behaviour
- Using Play Therapy expertise to help children and those around them understand the 'why' behind emotions and behaviours.
- Motor Assessments
- Fine and gross motor assessments with individualised therapy intervention and suggestions for home and educational settings.
- Self-Care Support
- Assessment and strategies for self-care activities including toileting, dressing, eating, and cleaning teeth.
- Sensory Processing
- Sensory processing assessments and interventions to support children in meeting their daily sensory needs within home, community and educational settings.
- School Readiness
- Support for skill development in attention, organisational skills, social and fine motor skills prior to starting school.
- Handwriting Without Tears
- A fun and engaging program to teach proper letter formation and improve overall handwriting skills.

Occupational Therapy services - Medicare
Per hour, minus rebate. Child may be eligible for Chronic Disease Management plan rebate.

Our approach
CoastalPlay OT uses a holistic and child-centred approach to occupational therapy. Therapy takes place primarily in the child's natural environments—home, daycare, kinder and school—to ensure therapeutic change happens where children spend most of their time. The focus is on developing play, social skills, emotional regulation, sensory integration, self-care, school readiness, and motor skills. By working in these familiar settings rather than in a clinic, children can apply what they learn directly to their daily lives, and families see real-world improvements.
Meet the team
Sophie is a caring and warm Occupational Therapist who has been practising since 2015. She completed her Master's degree in Child Play Therapy in 2022, bringing specialist training in play-based therapeutic approaches. She works as the primary therapist at CoastalPlay OT, combining her occupational therapy expertise with advanced knowledge in child play therapy.
