Our approach
Chris Gilbert uses a down-to-earth, light-hearted and evidence-based approach that adapts to different ages. For children and teens, sessions combine Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Positive Behaviour Support and/or Behavioural Parent Training, tailored to address anxiety, emotion regulation, behavioural issues, depression, ADHD and autism. Chris brings an engaging and silly style that children enjoy, while maintaining a matter-of-fact approach that older clients appreciate. The philosophy emphasises a team approach, working collaboratively with the child or teen, their parents, and other professionals or school staff when desired. For those interested, Christian counselling is also available with evidence-based treatment integrated from a Christian perspective. Sessions are 50 minutes long and can be delivered in person, via telehealth or phone.
Working with families
Family involvement is central to the practice philosophy, with Chris emphasising a team approach that actively includes parents in the treatment process. Behavioural Parent Training is offered as part of the treatment modalities, recognising that parents play a key role in supporting their child's progress. Chris works collaboratively with families, schools and other professionals when desired, ensuring that everyone involved in the child's care is working towards the same goals. This integrated approach means parents are not passive observers but active partners in their child's treatment journey.
Meet the team
Chris Gilbert is the Director and Clinical Psychologist leading the practice. Chris has an engaging clinical style and brings personal understanding of neurodivergence through family experience, alongside evidence-based practice in supporting ADHD and autism. While the website indicates the practice is expanding with positions available, no additional team members are currently detailed on the provided text. Chris holds Medicare and NDIS provider status and is able to support clients under both schemes, including providing necessary reports for plan-managed clients.
