  • Our approach

Child First Therapy believes great therapy is about more than treatment sessions. The goal is to help children participate more fully in activities that matter most to them, supporting skill development and helping families navigate everyday challenges. Sessions combine face-to-face therapy with time for communication about next steps and progress notes, and can be delivered in clinic, at home, in the community, or at school. The approach is evidence-based and collaborative, working closely with clients, families, carers, educators and other professionals to deliver practical therapy that makes a meaningful difference in everyday life.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is encouraged and central to therapy success. The provider works collaboratively with families and carers, and communication about therapy goals and next steps is built into each session. Families are asked to communicate any changes to their child's situation and to use equipment safely in the way they have practiced with the therapist. The provider also offers liaison time for communication with families and other professionals involved in the child's care.

  • Your first visit

An initial assessment is typically conducted in-rooms unless otherwise agreed and requires 48 hours' notice of cancellation and confirmation of credit card details or funding availability. Following the initial assessment, a report summarizing the findings and any standardised assessments is usually prepared, which typically takes two to four weeks to produce. The assessment may include third-party standardised clinical assessment forms to help inform recommendations, with your consent obtained on each occasion.
