Our approach
Sessions are individualised and tailored to each child's unique strengths, interests and goals. The approach combines evidence-based practice with play-based activities designed to keep children engaged and learning effectively. The therapist creates a safe and welcoming environment where children feel valued and supported. Sessions focus on developing communication skills across areas such as speech, language understanding, expression, literacy and social communication. The therapist works collaboratively with families, providing ongoing strategies and suggestions to support progress both during and between sessions.
Working with families
Family involvement is central to the service, with the therapist working collaboratively to foster positive partnerships and empower parents throughout the therapy process. Communication begins early—when you first reach out, questionnaires are sent to gather detailed case history information. During the initial consultation, the therapist takes time to understand your family's specific goals and concerns. Throughout therapy, ongoing strategies and suggestions are provided to support both your child and family in reaching their goals, with weekly or fortnightly sessions tailored to your needs.
Meet the team
The team consists of Mikaela Hayman, a Speech Pathologist with MSPA-CPSP qualifications and extensive experience supporting children's communication development across schools and private practice settings. Mikaela is the founder of the practice and is committed to providing support that is both neurodiversity affirming and evidence-based. She specialises in building meaningful relationships with clients and families, tailoring each session to ensure therapy is engaging and effective while pursuing the best possible outcomes.
Your first visit
The initial process begins when you get in touch via phone, email or online form, and questionnaires will be emailed to gather your child's history. You'll then have an initial phone call or meeting with the speech pathologist to share your child's story, discuss your family's goals, and plan next steps. Following this, a formal assessment takes place where your child participates in carefully selected play-based activities and standardised tools to explore their strengths and challenges. This comprehensive assessment forms the foundation for developing an individualised therapy plan tailored to your child's needs.
