  • Our approach

Sessions at Canobolas Kids Health use a play-based approach to make therapy fun and natural for children. The physiotherapists and occupational therapists are trained in early intervention and work with children to identify goals that are important to families, then develop evidence-based interventions and strategies to help them move, participate and play in everyday activities. Treatment is tailored to each child's needs, whether they're working on gross motor skills, fine motor development, sensory processing, or managing injuries and disabilities. The team believes that a child's job is to play, and this is how they learn about their world and grow, so therapy is integrated into activities that don't feel like formal therapy. Assessment and treatment sessions are goal-directed and designed to support children across home, school and childcare environments.

  • Working with families

The clinic is committed to connecting with families so they feel seen, heard and valued. Parents and carers are recognised as the expert on their child, and the team provides support and tools to help families integrate fun and functional therapy into home routines to achieve the best outcomes. Communication and collaboration with families is central to their approach—they work with you and your child to identify goals that matter to you, and develop strategies that can be carried into everyday environments. The team believes this partnership approach, where families are empowered with knowledge and support, helps children reach their full potential.

  • Meet the team

The team includes five qualified therapists: physiotherapists Eden Bradford (Team Leader with a Masters in Advanced Paediatric Physiotherapy Practice), Jennifer Kimbel, Courtney Johnson (Senior Physiotherapist), and Pat Blackwell (Director); and occupational therapists Rachel Dewhurst (Team Leader), Mikaela Dunn and Chloe Greenwood. All physiotherapists hold bachelor degrees from Charles Sturt University, and occupational therapists have qualifications from universities including CSU Port Macquarie, La Trobe University and Sydney University. Clinicians have specialised training in early intervention, play-based therapy, family-centred practice, and specific areas including infant development, disability and NDIS support, sports and musculoskeletal injuries, and neurological conditions.
