  • Our approach

Bright Space Psychology uses evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Sessions are flexible and can be delivered face-to-face, online via secure videolink or FaceTime, and for children with NDIS plans, through home visits, kindergarten and childcare visits, or school visits. Your psychologist takes a warm, professional and flexible approach, starting each session with paperwork and discussion of your Mental Health Treatment Plan if you've been referred by a GP or psychiatrist. The focus is on understanding what's been happening in your or your child's life and developing a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Your psychologist will ask guiding questions to gather all the information needed to support your growth, healing and moving forward to where you want to be.

  • Working with families

Bright Space Psychology works closely with families, discussing service details when you first make contact and asking guiding questions during your first session to understand what's happening in your child's life. If your child has been referred by a GP or psychiatrist, the psychologist will discuss the details of your Mental Health Treatment Plan with you. After the assessment process is completed, the practice works closely with families to establish clear goals for intervention. The approach emphasises being here for you every step of the way, walking alongside families through the therapeutic process.

  • Your first visit

When you book your first therapy appointment, you'll discuss with the practice what format would be easiest and most suitable for you—face-to-face or online therapy. At the beginning of your first session, your psychologist will run through some paperwork and answer any questions you might have. If you've been referred by a GP or psychiatrist, the psychologist will discuss the details of your Mental Health Treatment Plan. The session is focused on finding out what has been happening recently in your or your child's life so the psychologist can put together a treatment plan that works best for you. The psychologist will ask guiding questions to ensure they have all the information they need, so you don't need to worry about what to share.
