Our approach

Working with families

Meet the team
Simon Day is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (MSPA CPSP) with a background in linguistics from La Trobe University and a Master's of Speech Pathology from the University of Melbourne. He has extensive experience working with children from toddlers to teenagers and holds further training in evidence-based programs including Project ImPACT, Hanen More Than Words, Shape Coding, AAC, the Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme, Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing, and Sounds-Write literacy. Brand New Day Speech Pathology is a sole practice, operated by Simon Day.
Your first visit
The initial consultation is a one-hour parent-only session (45 minutes discussion, 15 minutes planning) where background information is gathered and your child's needs are discussed in detail. This is an opportunity to ask questions and explore how the clinic can best support your child, with an assessment plan finalised during the session. The child doesn't usually attend so parents can speak openly. Following this, a formal assessment (1–2 hours depending on age and needs) uses standardised and informal assessments to understand your child's current speech, language, and communication skills, informing the direction of therapy.
