  • Our approach

BillyLids Therapy uses play-based therapy as the cornerstone of their approach, incorporating toys, games, and engaging activities as therapeutic tools to help children learn while they have fun. Sessions are tailored to suit each child's interests, needs, and learning style, with therapists taking time to understand how each child's brain works. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all model, therapists weave a child's special interests into activities and blend evidence-based therapeutic techniques with playful, creative methods. The clinic is designed to feel whimsical and welcoming rather than clinical, encouraging children to look forward to their visits. Whether supporting speech development, occupational skills, or complex needs, the philosophy centres on celebrating each child as an individual while building their confidence.

  • Working with families

BillyLids Therapy prioritises family as a core part of their service delivery. The clinic offers parent coaching and family support to empower families and deliver better outcomes for the whole family unit. They work closely with parents to set therapy goals and recognise that families know their children and their needs better than anyone. The team collaborates with parents and coordinates with the wider care team—including specialists, schools, and daycares—to reduce the burden of care coordination. Resources and strategies are developed to support children in their community and home environments, and the clinic offers both clinic-based and community/home visits to suit each family's needs.

  • Meet the team

BillyLids Therapy is led by co-founders Rachelle, a director and speech pathologist with a Masters degree and background in nursing and midwifery, and Rosanna, a senior occupational therapist and allied health manager who graduated from the University of Queensland in 2012. The speech pathology team includes Joan, a senior speech pathologist with over 40 years of experience in complex communication disorders and AAC; Amelia, a senior speech pathologist with additional certifications in PROMPT and SOS Feeding; Olivia, an intermediate clinician; and recent graduates Abigail, Shari, Tess, Samara, and Paige. The occupational therapy team is led by Rosanna and supported by allied health assistants. All therapists are focused on paediatric practice and demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development and collaborative, family-centred care.
