  • Our approach

Rebecca combines evidence-based techniques with a client and family-centered approach that is deeply individualised and compassionate. Sessions are structured as 50 minutes of face-to-face therapy plus 10 minutes of indirect support including session notes, resource creation, and homework recommendations. The service prioritises thorough assessments to understand each child's unique needs, then develops a tailored treatment plan aligned with personal goals. Rebecca collaborates closely with families, teachers, and other health professionals to ensure comprehensive care that considers all aspects of well-being and helps children overcome communication challenges with confidence.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to the approach, with Rebecca collaborating closely with parents throughout therapy to ensure comprehensive care. Parents receive regular home practice recommendations and are included in ongoing goal updates and progress monitoring. The service also offers parent training programs such as Hanen – More than Words, which teaches parents practical strategies to use during everyday routines to increase children's communication. Regular communication and collaboration with families, along with non-face-to-face support services for resource development and professional meetings, ensure parents are active partners in their child's communication journey.

  • Your first visit

During the first session, a comprehensive assessment is conducted to understand the child's specific communication needs, which may include discussing medical history, observing communication skills, and conducting standardised assessments as appropriate. Rebecca will discuss the child's goals and expectations with parents, then develop a personalised treatment plan and provide recommendations for the therapy approach moving forward. This initial consultation ensures a clear understanding of the child's unique situation and sets the foundation for effective, targeted support.
