Our approach
Western Children's Health Centre provides holistic and comprehensive care for children using a multidisciplinary team approach. Services range from general paediatrician visits for routine check-ups to ongoing management of complex and chronic medical conditions. Play-based activities are incorporated into many sessions, particularly in speech pathology and psychology, to create child-friendly environments. The centre uses evidence-based practice across all services, whether working with developmental milestones, mental health, nutrition, or other paediatric needs. Occupational therapy and other services focus on actively involving and educating parents and carers to support children's learning and development at home.
Meet the team
Western Children's Health Centre has a stellar multidisciplinary team including 14 paediatricians and sub-specialists (many with FRACP qualifications and additional specialisations like gastroenterology and neonatology), as well as allied health specialists. The allied health team includes three psychologists, a physiotherapist, two dietitians, a nurse practitioner in paediatric dermatology, three speech pathologists, a play-based therapist, and a paediatric continence specialist. All practitioners bring both formal qualifications and experience in their respective fields to provide comprehensive paediatric care.
