Our approach
Victoria Beehre Speech Pathology takes a partnership approach centred on children with complex communication needs, particularly those who are non-verbal, autistic, or gestalt language processors. Sessions focus on evaluating each child's individual needs and identifying the best Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) system for them, such as key word sign or PODD communication language systems. Once the right communication system is chosen, the provider works alongside families and carers to coach all communication partners, creating an immersive learning environment. The philosophy emphasises building a "safe cocoon" for the child to learn their new communication system, transform their connections with the world, and ultimately develop greater autonomy and independence in communication.
