Our approach
Think Health Specialists uses a person-centred and recovery-oriented approach, focusing on understanding each child's unique needs within a safe and nurturing environment. Their practice adopts trauma-informed care principles and prioritises individualised treatment tailored to each young person's circumstances. The team works collaboratively with families to develop comprehensive, integrated wellness plans that address mental health holistically. Sessions are conducted in a supportive setting where clinicians foster resilience and hope, whether through face-to-face appointments or online consultations depending on family preference. A commitment to compassionate, expert care underpins all interactions, with practitioners meeting clients where they are to instil confidence and galvanise both internal and external supports.
Working with families
Family involvement is central to the clinic's approach, with specialists acknowledging that supporting young people often involves supporting their families too. The integrated model includes family psychiatry and counselling services, with tailored interventions designed to strengthen family bonds and address unique challenges collaboratively. The team offers parenting workshops and communication courses to empower families with tools for resilience and harmony. Clinicians work with families to develop comprehensive treatment plans during initial and ongoing appointments, ensuring parents and carers understand the support being provided. Regular communication and partnership with families underpins the clinic's holistic wellness philosophy, recognising that family mental health and connection are essential to a young person's recovery.
Meet the team
The psychiatry team includes Dr Alice Ayres and Dr Arun Pillai, both co-founders and psychiatrists experienced in working with children, adolescents and young adults. Dr Kim Futcher is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Registrar in her final year of advanced training with interests in neurodevelopmental conditions, anxiety and depression. Additional specialists include Dr Nasim Heidari, Dr Arzoo Fazaluddin, Dr Kaliane Marshall and Dr Ashley Bondad, all child and adolescent psychiatrists with expertise in areas including ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, OCD and eating disorders. The team also includes Dr Michael Carr-Gregg, a psychologist and parenting expert, and Bonnie Kang, a speech pathologist specialising in neurodiverse children. Support staff member Leah Svanberg provides warm, friendly client administration to foster a welcoming clinic environment.
Your first visit
At the initial appointment, the psychiatry team conducts a comprehensive assessment to understand the child's presentation and circumstances thoroughly. The referral is reviewed by clinicians within approximately 14 business days to assess suitability and availability, after which families are contacted to confirm acceptance and discuss clinician options. For most psychiatric consultations, a commitment to two to three initial appointments is requested to ensure a detailed evaluation and the development of a tailored treatment plan. Prior to booking, a $200 deposit is required to secure the appointment, which is refundable up to two business days before. During the assessment process, clinicians gather relevant clinical detail to formulate personalised recommendations aligned with the child's unique needs and family circumstances.
