  • Our approach

At Therapy Oasis, the team takes a collaborative, evidence-based approach grounded in respect and compassion for each family's unique journey. Sessions focus on individualised therapy tailored to each client's specific needs and goals, with a commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest research. The therapists work closely with families, educators and other professionals to support communication development across a range of areas including early language, speech sounds, language skills, and swallowing. A neurodiversity-affirming environment is central to the practice, where all individuals are valued for their unique strengths. Service delivery is flexible, offered in-clinic, at home, in schools and childcare settings, or via telehealth to ensure accessibility.

  • Working with families

Family and parental involvement is actively encouraged and recognised as important in therapy outcomes. Parents are invited to be involved in implementing strategies and supporting the client outside of therapy sessions, including practising speech exercises at home, facilitating communication opportunities in daily routines, and reinforcing strategies taught in therapy. Active family involvement can help reduce the overall number of sessions needed. The therapists work closely with families in a collaborative partnership, building meaningful relationships based on trust and mutual respect to support the growth and well-being of all family members.

  • Meet the team

The team comprises licensed, Master's-qualified Speech Pathologists. Devina Lorenzia is a Paediatric Speech Pathologist with a Master of Speech Language Pathology from the University of Sydney, specialising in speech sound disorders and early intervention with experience across autism, developmental delay, hearing loss and genetic disorders. Kristy Tai is an Adult Speech Pathologist, also with a Master's degree, experienced in a range of conditions and specialist in communication and swallowing difficulties; she is trilingual (English, Cantonese, and Mandarin) and brings a neurodiversity-affirming, naturalistic approach to her work. Both are committed to working with culturally diverse families and building meaningful, respectful relationships with clients.

  • Your first visit

The process begins with a complimentary 10-minute introductory call to discuss your concerns, preferences and availability. If an assessment is recommended (particularly if you're uncertain about specific needs or it's been more than 12 months since the last assessment), the initial assessment typically takes 90 minutes. This comprehensive assessment provides an in-depth analysis of the individual's needs to help both you and the therapist gain a clear understanding of requirements. The assessment findings guide the development of an individualised therapy plan with any necessary recommendations, setting a solid foundation for ongoing support.

It can be, usually under Capacity Building / Improved Daily Living, if it aligns with your child's plan goals. Check your plan or ask your support coordinator.

There's no "too early." If you have concerns about your child's talking or understanding at any age, an assessment can clarify whether support would help.

How long are sessions and how many will we need?

Session length varies between clinics and services, so check it with the provider when you book. The number depends on your child's goals; the pathologist will recommend a plan after the initial assessment.
