  • Our approach

At The Nurturing Hand, therapy is rooted in connection, play, and safety, with a focus on supporting each child's nervous system and helping them feel grounded first. Sessions are designed to be engaging, playful, and tailored to your child's unique needs, using an occupational therapy lens to support them in activities that matter most—from play and schoolwork to building independence. Growth happens when children feel secure in their bodies and brains, and from this foundation of safety, children can build confidence to explore, learn, and connect. The practice walks alongside parents, caregivers, and educators to create strong partnerships ensuring consistent support across all environments. Sessions emphasize celebrating strengths, building confidence, and supporting meaningful participation in life.

  • Working with families

Collaboration is central to The Nurturing Hand's approach, with the practice walking alongside parents, caregivers, and educators to create strong partnerships and ensure consistent support across all environments. Feedback is provided regularly during services, and the practice is committed to liaising with your child's network—including schools, teachers, and other support people. The team takes a family-centered approach, respecting parents' input and working together to celebrate strengths, build confidence, and support your child's development. Families are involved in establishing goals and support plans from the initial consultation onwards.

The first step is to contact the practice or complete a referral form, followed by booking an initial consultation and completion of a case history assessment. During this process, goals and a support plan are established with families. Once these foundations are in place, therapy services begin, with ongoing feedback provided throughout.
