  • Our approach

Sessions at The Northwest Psychology Practice focus on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where your child can tell their story and feel truly heard. The psychologists work collaboratively with each young person to understand their goals, whether that's managing anxiety, sadness, anger, stress or other challenges. They provide evidence-based psychological strategies tailored to your child's specific needs, creating a personalised treatment plan together. The service is caring, professional and confidential, with psychologists trained to help children and teens find their way toward the life they want to have. Sessions are structured to keep you on track—if anything isn't working, the team welcomes your feedback and adjusts the approach accordingly.

  • Meet the team

The team includes 11 psychologists and clinical psychologists with varying levels of qualification and experience. The practice has been operating for over 18 years, and team members include both Clinical Psychologists (Anushka Kapdi, Dianne Swinsburg, Lynne-Maree Crain, Michelle Player, Mona Ghafourian, Monica Asimus and Nicki Kemp) and Psychologists (Leila Jorge, Maha Baig, Monica Kim and Natalie Foti). The team works collaboratively to match each client with the right psychologist based on their individual needs.

  • Your first visit

Your child's first appointment will be a 50-minute session where they'll meet their assigned psychologist and have the chance to discuss what's brought them in and what they'd like to achieve. The psychologist will listen to your child's story and work together with them to understand their goals and any challenges they're facing. From that conversation, the psychologist will create a tailor-made treatment plan designed specifically for your child's needs. This initial appointment is about building rapport, gathering information and setting clear direction for the therapy ahead.
