• Our approach

  The Happy Space uses strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approaches that prioritise happiness, empowerment, and meaningful change for each child and family. Sessions focus on developing communication, language, speech and social interaction skills in ways that feel fun and safe for the child. The team works collaboratively with families as partners, using evidence-based interventions tailored to each child's needs and preferred learning style. Whether through play therapy, speech pathology or allied health support, the emphasis is on helping children feel empowered and enabling them to participate fully in their everyday lives and communities.

• Working with families

  The Happy Space works in partnership with families, supporting you to develop the tools and knowledge to navigate therapy and support your child both during sessions and at home. The team values your input in setting meaningful goals and communicates warmly and approachably—if you've contacted the clinic, you've likely been welcomed by Jen. The allied health assistants and therapists work across educational settings and home environments to help your child make progress in the places that matter most to your family. The approach is consistently collaborative, placing family partnership at the heart of all therapeutic work.

• Meet the team

  The Happy Space is led by Carla and Jamima, both experienced speech pathologists with expertise in complex disability, social inclusion and evidence-based practice. The team includes five speech pathologists (Liv, Olivia and Ruby), a masters-qualified play therapist (Sophie), a lead allied health assistant (Claire, who previously taught primary school), and Leah, an occupational therapist joining soon. All clinicians are trained in neurodiversity-affirming care and work collaboratively with families. The team is supported by Jen, the clinical manager, who ensures smooth operations and warm client communication.
