Our approach
At Taggart Tutors, learning is personalised to each child's individual needs, strengths, and learning style. Sessions are thoughtfully tailored, from the type and frequency of tuition to the careful matching of tutor personality with learner preferences. The approach centres on building confidence and capability alongside skill development, moving away from standardised methods toward a flexible framework that meets learners where they are—academically and personally. Every aspect of the service is developed in collaboration with families, ensuring that the right support is delivered in the way each learner learns best. The belief underpinning all sessions is that with the right guidance, every child can feel confident and capable while they learn.
Working with families
Families are invited to collaborate throughout the learning process, with every aspect of personalised support developed in partnership with parents and carers. The centre welcomes families to enquire by phone, email, or in person, and values direct communication from the start. All service decisions—including tuition type, frequency, learning goals, and tutor matching—are "thoughtfully considered and developed in collaboration with families," reflecting a commitment to involving parents as active partners in their child's learning journey. This partnership approach ensures that family input shapes each learner's experience from initial contact onwards.
Meet the team
Taggart Tutors is led by Founder John Taggart and Directors Brian and Tia Berger, all with substantial teaching and tutoring experience. John founded the centre in 2020 after managing two successful tuition centres and brings a background in professional tuition. Brian holds a Bachelor of Business and Master of Teaching and Learning, and has been tutoring since 2019; Tia brings specialist training in Multisensory Structured Literacy and has been teaching since 2018. The team includes a Centre Manager and numerous tutors at various experience levels, many currently studying at university or completing teaching qualifications. Each tutor brings their own specialisms—spanning subjects from English and Maths to Sciences, Humanities, Psychology, and the Arts—and all are selected with care to match learner needs and learning styles.
