About Sydney Child Testing
Sydney Child Testing is a service providing IQ, cognitive/behavioural, and academic testing for children and adolescents in Sydney. We are dedicated to providing a comfortable and supportive testing environment for children aged between 3 and 16 years. Our approach
Sydney Child Testing conducts IQ, cognitive, behavioural and academic assessments in a supportive and comfortable environment tailored to each child's needs. The assessment process draws on the child's developmental and educational history, standardised test results, observations, and feedback from parents and teachers to build a comprehensive picture of how the child learns. Sessions are designed to be child-friendly, and families receive informal results on the day of testing to discuss findings and next steps. A detailed written report with recommendations is provided within 2-3 weeks, helping parents understand their child's cognitive strengths and weaknesses and preferred learning style. These recommendations guide educational planning so the learning environment can be adapted to best fit the child's abilities.
Working with families
Parents are involved throughout the assessment process and are asked to complete a clinical assessment form with information about their child's developmental and educational history. Teacher feedback is also gathered as part of the comprehensive assessment. On the day of testing, parents receive informal results and discussion of findings before leaving. The service remains available for follow-up support via telephone or email advice with flexible hours Monday to Saturday, making it easy for parents to seek clarification or discuss recommendations after receiving the written report.
Your first visit
At the first appointment, the service gathers the child's developmental and educational history through a clinical assessment form completed prior to or during the session. The child undergoes standardised testing tailored to their age and presenting concerns, which may assess intellectual ability, academic skills, memory, executive functioning, and emotional or behavioural aspects. During testing, observations are made of how the child approaches tasks and engages with the assessment. At the end of the session, parents receive informal feedback about the results and what was observed. A comprehensive written report with detailed results and specific recommendations is sent to families within 2-3 weeks.
