  • Our approach

Step by Step Physiotherapy uses play-based therapy to help babies and children enjoy movement and support their motor development. Sessions focus on making treatment meaningful through play, with physiotherapists introducing movement in ways that engage children. The practice follows an evidence-based approach, with all staff attending conferences and professional development to stay current with best practice. Treatment is tailored to each child's individual needs and includes education for families, helping parents understand their child's development and implement strategies to support them at home. The team works collaboratively with families to build strong partnerships and reach meaningful goals together.

  • Working with families

Step by Step Physiotherapy prioritises open communication and strong partnerships with families. Parents and carers are involved from the start, with the team helping you understand your child's development and specific needs so you can implement supportive strategies at home. Education programs are provided to empower families with knowledge about early development and how to support their child through play. The physiotherapists build connections with parents and supporting staff, ensuring everyone working with your child is aligned in their approach. Flexible, family-centred treatment options are available, including sessions at school, home, or parks when needed, making therapy accessible and convenient for your family.

  • Meet the team

Step by Step Physiotherapy has a dedicated team of experienced physiotherapists, all with extensive paediatric experience. Founder Lisa Cargeeg has 40 years of physiotherapy experience and established the practice in 2012. She works alongside her daughter Alison Mason (Physiotherapist with a Graduate Diploma in Paediatric Neurological Rehabilitation) and four other physiotherapists including Alison McIntosh, Vicky Mosnier, Megan Hayward, and Natalie Groome. All clinicians have been working clinically for at least 10 years. The team now operates within the Walky Talky Hub, a multidisciplinary practice that also includes speech pathology, occupational therapy, and clinical psychology, allowing for comprehensive collaborative care.

  • Your first visit

An initial assessment at Step by Step Physiotherapy provides a comprehensive evaluation of your child's needs, followed by a tailored hands-on program designed specifically for them. The first appointment allows the physiotherapist to understand your child's development and any concerns you may have. Your family's goals and preferences are discussed to ensure the therapy is meaningful and relevant to your child's life. The team then works with you to implement strategies and support at home, building a strong partnership with you as their parent or carer. This collaborative approach ensures you understand your child's specific needs and how to best support their development.
