Our approach
The team at Sprout Psychology Melbourne uses a neurodiversity affirmative approach, celebrating the unique strengths of neurodivergent individuals rather than viewing differences as deficits. Sessions prioritise creating a safe, affirming space where children and families feel supported, valued, and heard. The practice is culturally responsive, tailoring support to each family's specific needs and cultural background. Beyond clinical expertise, the team emphasises empathy and warmth in all interactions, recognising that seeking psychological support can feel vulnerable. Sessions focus on equipping children and families with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.
Working with families
Parents and carers are central to the service at Sprout Psychology Melbourne, with the clinic dedicated to empowering individuals and their families. The team works collaboratively with families to understand their needs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds, ensuring that support is tailored and responsive. Families are encouraged to share relevant information during the initial enquiry process, including referral letters and care plans, which helps the team provide personalised support. The clinic prioritises creating a warm, welcoming environment for all families throughout their journey.
Meet the team
The clinical team is led by Sharen Lui, a Clinical and Developmental Psychologist and Director. Esther Chan is a Child Psychologist and Team Leader at Hawthorn, and Lewis Yau is a Psychologist, BCBA, and Team Leader at Burwood; both are Education and Developmental Psychology Registrars. The team comprises highly trained and knowledgeable professionals who prioritise empathy in their interactions and are dedicated to supporting neurodivergent individuals and their families. Additional team members include provisional psychologists and education and developmental psychologists.
Your first visit
New clients begin with an online enquiry form that gathers detailed information about needs and preferences before the first appointment. This streamlined process allows the allocation team to review relevant referral letters or care plans beforehand, enabling them to match families with the most suitable psychologist. You'll have the option to securely upload any important documents at the enquiry stage. By understanding your situation thoroughly before the appointment, the team can provide a more personalised and efficient experience from the very start.
