  • Our approach

At Spot Therapy Hub, relationships are at the centre of every therapeutic journey. The team uses the Developmental, Individual-differences, Relationship-based (DIR®/Floortime™) approach, which begins with who each child is—exploring their sensory profile, emotional world, interests, and strengths—rather than focusing on what they cannot do. Therapists follow the child's lead, creating moments of shared joy and curiosity that become building blocks for communication, regulation, and learning. This neurodiversity-affirming philosophy means every child communicates, connects, and learns in their own way, and the therapist's job is to meet them there. The practice values connection, empathy, and meaningful relationships as the foundation for real progress and lasting change.

  • Working with families

Family input is considered critical throughout the entire therapeutic process at Spot. The team respects families as the 'experts' in their child's lives and believes that working in partnership with families is essential for positive outcomes. During assessment, parents and carers provide important information that helps the therapist build a comprehensive understanding of the child. Following assessment, families always receive verbal feedback, and written reports are recommended to support communication with other professionals involved in the child's care. The practice empowers families with knowledge and supports informed decision-making about their child's therapy.

  • Meet the team

The team includes founder and CEO Kate Broderick, a dual-qualified Principal Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapist, alongside multiple senior and experienced Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists. The Speech Pathology team includes senior clinicians such as Lishelle Nastro, Gabriella Watt, and Jillian McLenithan, with additional speech pathologists including Emily John, Saparya Jayaram, Lizzy Duffy, and others. The Occupational Therapy team features Chief Operating Officer Rebecca Elliott, senior therapists such as Francesca Radvin and Nurya van Biljon, and additional occupational therapists across various experience levels. The practice also includes Allied Health Assistants, administrative support, and a management team. The organisation is committed to ongoing professional development to ensure all team members provide evidence-based care.

  • Your first visit

After an initial conversation with Spot's Clinical Coordinator, you will receive a clear picture of what your assessment will involve, who should attend, how long it may take, and what to expect. You will be asked to complete a Client Questionnaire and may be requested to provide copies of reports from other health professionals or educators. Spot's therapists use interview, clinical observations, and standardised assessments to build a holistic picture of your child and family. Learning about strengths is as important as identifying areas for development, which allows the team to determine the best starting point for therapeutic support and develop a meaningful relationship with you from the start.
