  • Our approach

Smiley Happy People uses a play-based approach grounded in evidence-based strategies including the Alert Program®, Applied Behaviour Analysis, the Berry Street Educational Model, and Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports. Sessions focus on helping children develop an emotional-regulation 'toolkit' through intentional teaching in carefully designed sensory and learning environments. Children move through a unique circuit of rooms—from active play to calm spaces—designed to increase their body awareness and help them recognize and manage triggers like anxiety and overstimulation. The approach emphasizes building on each child's strengths and interests while scaffolding support for challenges, creating opportunities for peer learning and skill development across all developmental areas.
