Our approach
At Shady Oaks, therapy starts with understanding where each young person is right now. Sessions draw on evidence-based approaches tailored to the individual's needs, interests, and style—ranging from 6 to over 50 minutes depending on what works best. A neurodiversity-affirming lens runs through all work, making support practical and meaningful rather than one-size-fits-all. Young people always have input into how sessions are run so they feel comfortable and regulated. The focus is on building confidence, emotional regulation, social skills, and the ability to advocate for their own needs across home, school, and other settings.
