  • Our approach

SereneKids Therapy uses a play-based and relationship-focused approach grounded in the DIR/Floortime model and Sensory Integration Theory. Sessions are designed to be engaging and fun, with therapists building strong relationships to create a safe and supportive space where children develop important skills. The clinic believes in harnessing children's natural inclination to play to promote development across social, emotional, behavioural, physical, and cognitive areas. Each therapy plan is tailored to your child's unique strengths, challenges, and individual needs, with the goal of helping them reach their full potential and participate confidently in daily activities.

  • Working with families

Parents are considered essential to their child's therapy journey and are actively involved throughout. After the initial assessment, a parent consultation is scheduled to discuss findings, generate goals collaboratively, and develop a customised therapy plan aligned with your family's values. Additional parent consultations are scheduled as needed throughout the therapy block to check in on progress, review goals, and adjust the therapy approach. Parents also receive support and guidance to reinforce therapy goals at home and in other settings, and consultations can be conducted in-person at the clinic or via Zoom, whichever suits your family best.

The initial appointment begins with a comprehensive, play-based and child-led assessment designed to put your child at ease while exploring their strengths, challenges, and individual needs. Following the assessment, you'll receive a detailed report outlining findings and recommendations. A parent consultation is then scheduled to discuss results, generate goals together, and develop a customised therapy plan that aligns with your family's values and priorities. This collaborative approach ensures your input shapes the direction of therapy and that the plan fits your family's specific needs.
