Our approach
Role OT believes that with the right supports—including people, equipment, technology and environment—children with disabilities can thrive, face challenges, and achieve their goals. The service takes a person-centred approach focused on helping each child fulfil their valued roles in life, whether as a player, learner, artist or adventurer. Therapy isn't always direct skill-building with the child; it often involves coaching parents and carers to help devise plans for addressing everyday issues like sleep, eating and toileting in the home environment. The philosophy recognises that children learn best when they feel comfortable, with the people who love them, and at the right time for them. Sessions are designed to build parents' capacity to support their children, incorporating moments of learning into daily routines rather than relying on isolated weekly practice.
