  • Our approach

At Roar Speech, relationships are at the heart of everything. Sessions are fun, creative and hands-on, built around play, conversation and observation to gather information about your child's communication, motor development, play skills and interactions. Therapy is individually tailored based on assessment findings, with specific communication goals targeting your child's particular strengths and weaknesses. Sessions may be offered weekly or fortnightly depending on your child's needs, and the service works alongside families and educators to design effective solutions that support learning across all areas of your child's life. Early intervention is emphasised as key to maximising your child's communication potential and learning outcomes.

  • Your first visit

During assessment sessions, the speech pathologist assesses your child's communication skills through play, conversation, observation and formal assessments, gathering information about motor development, play skills, interaction, eating and drinking habits, school performance, and your child's likes and dislikes. After the assessment is complete, you'll receive preliminary feedback and a scheduled time to discuss the results once they've been scored, analysed and interpreted. You will then receive a written summary or comprehensive report depending on your child's age and findings.

Session length varies between clinics and services, so check it with the provider when you book. The number depends on your child's goals; the pathologist will recommend a plan after the initial assessment.
