About Purple Patch Child Therapy
Purple Patch Child Therapy is a collaboration between two sisters who are highly experienced, independent practitioners offering complimentary mental health services for children, adolescents and their families in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. They provide play therapy, tele-play, psychology, and animal assisted therapy, and describe themselves as neuroaffirming and trauma informed practices that celebrate and include people of all backgrounds.

Purple Patch Child Therapy lists
- Individual Play Therapy (In-Person)
- One-on-one Child-centred Play Therapy (CCPT) sessions for children aged 2-12 years, delivered at Balwyn and Mitcham locations. Sessions run approximately 45 minutes with additional time for clinical administration.
- Tele-Play Therapy (Telehealth)
- Play therapy delivered online for children and families unable to attend in person due to distance, accessibility needs, illness, anxiety, or family circumstances. Sessions are adapted to the child's developmental level and therapeutic goals.
- Parent Consultations
- Consultations provided every 5 to 6 sessions to offer guidance, support and practical strategies to understand and respond to the child's emotional needs.
- Psychology with Animal Assisted Therapy
- Tailored psychological therapy services for children, adolescents and families, as well as parenting counselling, delivered by a psychologist specialising in autism, anxiety, phobias, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Sessions conducted with therapy dogs Daisy and Lily.
- Professional Services
- Report writing, professional liaison and collaboration with schools or allied health providers.

Our approach
Play Therapy is an evidence-based modality that helps children process emotions, resolve problems and develop skills through therapeutic play. Psychology services with animal-assisted therapy are also offered, tailored to each child's needs, with the psychologist working alongside her trained therapy dogs. Sessions can be delivered in person or online via Tele-Play. The practice takes a neuroaffirming and trauma-informed approach, celebrating and valuing children of all backgrounds and abilities.
Meet the team
Purple Patch Child Therapy is run by two sisters, both independent practitioners. Sonya Skok is the Play Therapist who works with children aged 2–12 years, and Anita Skok is the Psychologist who specialises in anxiety, phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and working with autistic young people. Anita works in the therapy room with her two trained therapy dogs, Daisy and Lily.
