  • Our approach

Protea Psychology uses a collaborative, client-centred approach tailored to each person's unique needs and goals. The psychologist works with you to develop a shared understanding of your circumstances and concerns, then creates a personalised treatment plan together. Sessions draw on a range of evidence-based psychological frameworks to address issues like anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and parenting challenges. The aim is to cultivate insight, understanding and practical strategies that empower you towards lasting change. Each session lasts 50 minutes and provides a supportive space where your psychologist listens, understands and guides you with authenticity and compassion.

  • Your first visit

The first session is designed to be comfortable and is a time for mutual connection—your psychologist learns about you, your concerns and what you hope to achieve, while you get a sense of who they are and how they work. This helps both of you determine whether there's a good fit for your needs. Once you both have a shared understanding of your current circumstances, you'll work together to develop a collaborative treatment plan to support you towards your therapy goals. Your psychologist will also discuss what you hope to achieve and the anticipated timeframe for therapy, which can be reviewed as you progress.
