Our approach

Project Superhero uses an early intervention approach that focuses on human connection to help children with communication, social engagement, emotional regulation and challenging behaviours. Sessions are tailored to each child's needs and delivered either as 1:1 therapy in the Buds program or as small group sessions in the Academy program. The Buds program offers mobile therapy delivered in home, childcare and community settings, while the Academy provides weekly group sessions during school terms. Both programs emphasise hands-on, immersive and fun teaching that builds self-regulation skills, perseverance and resilience. The team is informed by lived experience and works collaboratively with families to support children's development across home, school and community.

Working with families

Parents and carers are actively involved throughout therapy, with both programs offering ongoing support and communication. The Buds program includes ongoing parent coaching, while the Academy program features ongoing parent consultation. Additionally, the Buds program offers childcare educator upskilling, recognising that children spend time in multiple settings. The team publishes a monthly newsletter with real-life success stories from families in both programs, aiming to educate, empower and inspire parents about what children with additional needs are capable of achieving.
