About Prep For School
Prep For School is a Pre-K program designed to prepare young learners for a confident start to their educational journey. Founded by Brooke Costaganna, a highly experienced primary school teacher with over a decade of classroom experience, the program focuses on essential school-readiness skills including early literacy, pre-writing, numeracy, and social-emotional development in a supportive, small-group environment.

Prep For School lists
- Pre-K School Readiness Program
- A comprehensive program for children aged 4-6 years (and as young as 3.5 years) focusing on pre-reading, pre-writing, numeracy, gross and fine motor skills, and social-emotional development. Sessions are held Monday to Friday with morning and afternoon options, limited to a maximum of 8-9 children per group with two educators.
- Pre-Writing Skills
- Hands-on program enhancing fine motor skills, pencil grip, cutting techniques, and letter formation to establish a solid foundation in early writing skills.
- Pre-Reading Skills (Pre-Lit Program)
- Phonics-based program combining structured skills development with storybook components to build phonetical awareness, oral language development, and essential reading skills.
- Numeracy Program
- Program prioritising number recognition, counting, creating quantities, and exposure to mathematical language to build foundational mathematical understanding.
- Gross and Fine Motor Skills Development
- Physical development activities utilising the 5-acre outdoor setting and indoor jungle-gym to enhance coordination, balance, climbing, and muscle development.
- Social and Emotional Skills Development
- Program focused on developing listening skills, turn-taking, sharing, following instructions, forming friendships, building resilience, confidence, and emotional regulation.
- Trial Session
- A 2-hour trial session allowing children to experience the program and educators to provide feedback on the child's learning needs.

Our approach
Sessions use a structured, phonics-based program (Pre-Lit) combined with engaging storybooks for pre-reading, hands-on activities like letter formation and pencil grip for pre-writing, and play-based learning to develop numeracy, gross and fine motor skills, and social-emotional competencies. The program creates a supportive environment on a 5-acre property that integrates outdoor and indoor spaces, intentionally designed to foster independence, confidence, resilience and a love of learning. Classes are capped at a maximum of nine children with two educators, ensuring personalised attention and small group interactions that support both academic readiness and social development.
Meet the team
The team is led by Brooke Costaganna, the founder and a highly experienced primary school teacher with over a decade of classroom experience and professional development in literacy and numeracy training. Brooke is supported by Miss Melissa, a passionate primary school teacher with early years experience; Miss Nat (Natalie), a qualified primary teacher's aide with over a decade of experience including work with children with additional needs and a particular focus on fine motor and social development; and Miss Hope, who brings five years of teaching experience from prep level plus additional experience as a teacher's assistant. All team members work together to create a warm, nurturing learning environment.
Your first visit
At a trial session, your child attends for two hours to experience the full program while educators get to know them and their learning needs. Trial sessions cost $75 and must be booked in advance. At the end of the trial, educators provide feedback on your child's experience and readiness. Once enrolled, your child uses a 'Drop and Go' system where they are personally escorted to class at drop-off and collected from outside the front gate at pick-up, supporting their independence. If separation anxiety is a concern, the team will collaborate with you to create a personalised transition plan.
