Our approach
Play Therapy Melbourne uses a neuroscience-informed and child-centred play-based approach that lets each child guide the therapeutic process. Sessions are non-directive, meaning clinicians follow the child's lead through their play and interactions rather than guessing which activities might help. The approach is grounded in contemporary research on neuroscience, attachment theory and trauma-informed practice, recognising that positive play experiences help children explore their feelings, process experiences and heal from difficult events. Clinicians work to help children feel safer, more regulated and more able to engage in everyday life, whether the concerns involve anxiety, behaviour, trauma, attachment or other challenges. Sessions take place in a supportive environment where children are genuinely heard and their strengths are recognised alongside any difficulties.
