  • Our approach

Paediatric Play uses a client-focused and family-centred approach that empowers children and their families to achieve their greatest potential. The multi-disciplinary team combines evidence-based practice with individualized therapy tailored to each child's specific goals and needs. Sessions focus strongly on clinical reasoning, skill progression, and addressing the unique challenges of each client. Therapy can take place in-clinic at their Bellevue Heights and Goodwood studios, or in the community through home and school visits, which enables strategies to be implemented directly within the child's natural environment. Sessions are booked for 45-50 minutes, with community therapy sessions including feedback and homework provided via email or letter so families can practise strategies at home.

  • Working with families

Parents and carers are involved from the very beginning through initial phone consultations where concerns, goals and challenges are discussed. The assessment process includes liaising with parents, carers and educators regarding the child's difficulties and underlying concerns, and observations are documented as part of the assessment report. Throughout treatment, community therapy sessions include feedback and homework provided via email or letter, helping families practise strategies at home between sessions. The admin team also supports parents with funding inquiries, scheduling appointments, NDIS questions and allied health-specific guidance.

  • Meet the team

The team at Paediatric Play includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, developmental educators and allied health assistants. Leadership includes Sam (Director and Occupational Therapist), with clinical leads for each discipline: Maria (Occupational Therapy), Luke (Physiotherapy), Kim (Speech Pathology), and Claudia (Psychology). The team also includes senior occupational therapists, a team leader for developmental education, and administrative staff. All therapists and staff are passionate about supporting children to be their best and work across the clinic hubs and community settings to provide face-to-face or teletherapy services.

  • Your first visit

The first appointment begins with a phone call consultation where the designated therapist discusses your child's concerns, goals, challenges and plans the face-to-face assessment. You'll receive a service agreement and consent form by email before attending. The initial assessment (held in-clinic or at home) involves building rapport with your child and parents, discussing concerns, and using both standardised and non-standardised assessment tools tailored to your child's age and development. Following the assessment, a detailed report encompassing all observations, assessment data and recommendations is emailed to you within 14 days. If treatment is recommended, the therapist will suggest weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions depending on your child's needs.
