Our approach
Maternal occupational therapy focuses on supporting mothers through the transition to motherhood (matrescence) by helping them untangle overwhelm, reconnect with their instincts, and develop confidence in their own motherly wisdom. The approach emphasizes empowerment, compassion, and non-judgement, grounded in evidenced-based practice and the understanding that neither mothers nor children need to be "fixed"—rather, motherhood is about growing into a new version of yourself. Sessions are designed to journey with you through the big emotions, physical changes, and everything in between, offering empathy and guidance tailored to your unique circumstances. The goal is to help you claim your own beautifully messy version of motherhood that feels loving, true, and deeply aligned with who you are and your family's values.
Your first visit
Before committing to sessions, you're offered a free, no-obligation 15-minute discovery call to discuss whether the service is right for you and to ensure a good fit between you and the therapist. As the provider notes, the therapeutic relationship is unique and personal—this initial conversation creates space for open, honest, and authentic communication. You can ask questions about the approach, services, and how they might support your specific motherhood journey. Following this, if you decide to proceed, appointments are typically 50–60 minutes in length and can be arranged as in-person home visits across the Yarra Valley, online sessions via Zoom across Australia, or in-clinic sessions in Ringwood East.
